Growth is attainable but your mindset maybe the reason why growth seems far from you. Hence why it is imperative that you place premium priority on developing a growth mindset
Here are 5 ways to develop a growth mindset;
1. Read Books
Reading isn’t always the easiest thing to do especially when you are not trying to pass an exam. I know this because I struggled with it myself but those days are now behind me after I discovered a method that works for me- reading a chapter of a book before bedtime or a chapter each day and striving to implement the things I read. Reading sure helps with self-development. I would recommend books like “The Magic Of Thinking big”- David J. Schwartz, Ph.D
2. Set Goals
Set goals that are SMART- both long term and short term goals. This will offer you a clear picture of what you want to achieve and start taking steps towards it. Setting goals for me does not always have to be just career goals. You could set goals towards having a better positive attitude or developing a habit.
3. Learn from your mistakes
Do not be afraid to make mistakes because the lessons you gather from them is part of growth but not learning. Reflect on what went wrong and discover the resource or skill that will be needed so that such mistake doesn’t happen again.
4. Positive thinking
Having a positive mindset is same as having a growth mindset because what you think is how you’ll act. Speak words of affirmation to yourself, ensure you stay in an emotionally healthy environment and guard your thoughts.
5. Leave your comfort zone
Discomfort can sometimes spark growth. This is one of the things that has helped me in developing a growth mindset. Try out new things or learn new things and you might pick up a new skill or hobby. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be done gradually to avoid running back because of the sudden change.
Your mind is a very powerful tool that controls how you think and act. Choose to use it the right way. I wish you the very best on your journey to developing a growth mindset!
