6 Time Management Tips To Have a Productive Day.

Time management is very important. It is a soft skill that every individual requires if they must stay organized, be productive and get ahead in life.

Here are some time management tips that have helped me in my responsibility as a content manager who works remotely;

1. CREATE A ROUTINE

Ever since I created a routine, I find that I achieve more during the day. I try to stay consistent even with the hours of the day. Blocking out specific times during the day to carry out any pre-planned activity boosts my productivity and is definitely one of the most helpful time management tips . Should anything come up which was not already in my schedule, I am not thrown off but rather, find the best way to accommodate them.

2. SET YOUR PRIORITIES

This is where my to do list comes in handy. With this, I can list out all the activities that I intend to achieve each day. The magic however is in prioritizing as there could be days when things do not go as planned and you are unable to tick off all you set out to do. Rather than allow yourself burn out, focus on what’s of utmost importance and move the rest of the activities to the next day.

3. USE A TO-DO LIST TOOL

As part of time management, I recommend using a to do list app such as Google notes, Toggl, Trello, Todoist and Remember the milk. This will help you create your list and set reminders for each activity. Using a journal is also okay but I am team digital over manual *wink*

4. SET REALISTIC GOALS

While you may be able to push some tasks to the next day, never start out with that mentality. Put down tasks that you can achieve and strive for balance.

5. BLOCK OUT DISTRACTIONS

You may have to put your phone on silence or disable notifications while you are engaged in your tasks. This will help you avoid distractions whether in the form of phone calls or notifications. For our tectonic parents, we recommend finding activities that keeps your kids engaged while you stay focused on your tasks.

6. TAKE BREAK IN BETWEEN TASKS

Consider taking breaks in between each activity or after a few activities to rest and regain strength to complete the other outlined tasks. You could take a walk, snack, or any other convenient way for you to relax before you take on the next task.

Sticking to routines also helps you manage your time better. Although you may not strictly adhere to the routine, but it has already created a path for your daily activities. You can always switch it up by adding or removing activities so that you do not end up feeling bored or like a programmed machine.

Do not put too much pressure on yourself in a situation where you didn’t tick off everything on your list, you can easily carry it over to the next day but ensure the task is completed before the week runs out.
