Last week, one of my favourite brands, Samsung Mobile Nigeria, organized a tweet bid to reward its followers with the new Galaxy A series of smart phones. A tweet bid simply means that you use your tweets to bid for the phone and the highest bidder wins. To achieve that, you need to tweet and get your followers to retweet.
I would have thought that it would be pretty tough getting people to actually retweet since they may want the gadgets for themselves but these two guys were determined to see to it that they won the bid and indeed, they won. I got the opportunity to find out a little about them and why they wanted to win the phones.
Badru Olaoluwa is a 100 level student of Industrial relations and personnel management in the University of Ilorin. He has been a lover of the Samsung brand as he says, ” From my experience, Samsung products are simply awesome. They are of great quality and quite durable. Before now, I was using the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro before I changed to the Samsung Galaxy S4 which will be two years in July and still looks new and superb”. While many were doing the talking about the contest, it filtered into Badru’s ears and his love for the brand would not let him pass on such an opportunity to have Samsung Galaxy A3. What many do not know however, is that Badru was able to win the contest with the aid of his Samsung Galaxy S4 which he says, “I used my clipboard to save my intended tweets on my S4 and was able to tweet an average of 15 tweets within a minute to my followers and non-followers asking them to help me retweet the tweets”. Badru is excited about the A3 particularly because of the processor and its sleek metal unibody. He would have preferred to win the A5 though becuae of the RAM and the battery.
Adebisi Opeyemi on the other hand won Badru’s dream phone, the Samsung Galaxy A5. Adebisi who is also a student but with the University of Ibadan entered the competition because he needed a new phone so badly. “I just kept tweeting and begging my followers to help me win. It wasn’t easy but I really had to win”, he says. Samsung has also made his dreams of ever owning a Samsung phone come true as the A5 will be the first Samsung gadget that Adebisi will own. He seems to be in love with the camera though he had hoped for a Samsung Galaxy S5, ” Before the release of the A5, I had always wanted a Samsung Galaxy S5. There is no particular preference for that though and it seems quite similar to the A5″.
As if the goodies were not enough, the Samsung brand ambassador, BanyW was on hand to not only present the goodies but to also sign his autograph for them.
If you are yet to read my review of the Samsung Galaxy A5, click HERE. We wish Badru and Olabisi fun filled moments captured with the A series.
With love,
