Every entrepreneur should consider content marketing as a means of reaching new audience. Content marketing attracts new customers and clients.
Content marketing is the art of creating and publishing content targeted at an audience with the aim of advertising a product or service to them. This could take the form of an article, video or a podcast. In this article, we will show you how to use this to your advantage as a business owner or brand strategist.
Types of Content Marketing
There are 2 types of content marketing; branded content and sponsored content
Branded content
This consist of content created by a brand’s editorial team for its in-house platforms. The contents is consumed by the brand’s audience. For instance, if ST Hair and Beauty had a website which had a blog category, contents created on that site are branded contents. In some cases, the brand could hire an external person to create such contents which will be published on their platform.
Sponsored content
A publisher creates such contents on his or her platform for the purpose of advertising a product or service on the publisher’s platform. Such content promote the business of a brand in a subtle way. Unlike traditional advertising or advert placements which comes off too strong on the audience, sponsored contents are more organic. They are more relatable. The audience sees the promotions as an introduction or a recommendation by someone whose opinion they trust.
For instance, the article on 9 gift ideas for a mum, a brand could decide to sponsor such content which gives the reader ideas on where to purchase those items. Another example is the post on how to save for a trip to Europe. The post is sponsored by travel start and educates the reader. It still tells you about the brand. In other words, sponsored contents do not take away from the essence of the publisher’s site but rather embeds its contents into the site.
How can a brand promote its business using content marketing?
The easiest and fastest way to take advantage of sponsored content is by contacting a copy writer or a content creator. In the case of copy writers, they create contents tailored for your business and published on your platform. They can also create a guide for the content creators which the brand wishes to work with. For content creators, they can create contents specifically tailored to suit your business on their platforms.
