Have you been contemplating doing a detox? Then you should read this carefully.

What is detox? Detox is a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances.
Who needs to detox? From research, it is advised for everyone to detox once a year after due consultations with your doctor.
Why detox? According to Megan Rogers, a licensed psychotherapist and board-certified health coach, in an article on MindBodyGreen, under the right circumstances,  detox can help you
– remove toxins from your body
– prevent chronic disease
– enhance immune system function
– lose weight
– slow premature aging
– improve quality life
– increase energy
– improve skin quality
– improve mental and emotional clarity
– restore balance to our body system.
How to detox? According to Claire Goodall, the best way to detox is to avoid toxin. However,  in circumstances where we can’t avoid these toxins, she suggests that we eat healthy, keep the air fresh, create or follow a good recipe like a detox drink or smoothies and exercise
Side effects? This depends on the type of detox plan you choose to do. It could lead to low energy, low blood sugar, muscle aches, fatigue, feeling dizzy or light headed and nausea. Nursing mothers, children, patients with chronic degenerative diseases,  cancer or tuberculosis are strongly advised not to engage detox.
Editor’s note: After doing what I presume to be a detailed research and having done some consultations, I have decided to detox. I have had this plan since the beginning of the year and thought I could pull it off on my last working vacation but couldn’t. It starts on Monday but to detox, you need to prepare your body in 2-3 days. So, my preparation starts today and Detox shopping will be done tomorrow.  Should you want to join me, just send me an email and I hook you up*wink*. None the less, after the detox, I hope to share my recipes with you and my experience. I wish myself and all that wish to join me this coming week, a happy detox! #bevisible
