Committing to anything can be a big deal for a lot of millennials and Zoomers. Probably because there is a lot demanding for our attention at the same time. Hence why it is key to seek clarity before committing to anything.
Here are 6 questions to ask before committing to anything;
1. DO I REALLY WANT THIS ?
Search deep within you to see if it’s something you truly want before accepting. This will ensure that you don’t go through and get stuck midway.
2. IS THIS A GOOD USE OF MY TIME ?
Are you going to be learning anything by committing to the experience? Would you meet new people? Would the value you gain from it be worth the time you put in or would that time give you something more profiting when invested elsewhere?
3. AM I READY TO GIVE IT WHAT IT MIGHT REQUIRE ?
Do you have what it takes to handle the assignment or role? A mistake many make is assume they can and then end up disappointing. It’s always important to know your exact capabilities before committing.
4. WOULD I WANT THIS IN THREE MONTHS FROM NOW ?
90 days seems like a perfect time to be certain about how you truly feel about anything you are doing. Have a future projection, do you find yourself excited at the prospect of committing to the cause 90 days from now?
5. HOW DOES THIS HELP ME BECOME A BETTER PERSON OR BRING ME CLOSER TO MY GOALS?
Is there any similarity between the offer and your goals? Does it align with your purpose or help you draw closer to it? If you can’t answer this from the start, you should probably hold back on committing.
6. HOW DO I BENEFIT OR PROFIT FROM THIS ?
Except you run a charity, you want to look at the financial benefits before committing to anything. Would it give to you or take from you? Would you run at a loss or gain? Would it be worth it?
