Multichoice just dropped the nominees for the 9th Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the list looks highly competitive and fierce!
The nominees who were announced on Sunday the 16th of April, 2023, are spread across 33 categories, with ten categories open for public voting. The judging panel for the awards is led by Femi Odugbemi, who is a film director, producer, and writer.

Best Actor in a Comedy category (Movie/TV series):
The category features 10 nominees including Adokiye Horsfall for Inside Life, Charles Inojie for City Hustler, and Samuel Perry aka Broda Shaggi for Survivors and Inside Life. It’s going to be hard to choose just one!
Best Actor in a Drama (Movie/TV Series):
This category features a list of talented actors such as Blossom Chukwujekwu for The Trade, Chimezie Imo for Choke, and Richard Mofe Damijo for Four Four Forty Four.
Best Actress in a Comedy (Movie/TV series):
Here, we have some phenomenal actresses including Bimbo Ademoye for Selina, Mercy Johnson and Funke Akindele for Battle On Buka Street, and Grace Wacuka for Married to Work.
Multichoice Talent Factory Film:
This features five nominees with interesting titles such as Leaked, Cheza, and Strings. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?
Best Indigenous Language – Swahili (Movie/TV series):
We have six nominees, including Daniel Manege for Mpiganaji and Freddy Feruzi for Dau.
Best Indigenous Language Yoruba (Movie/TV series):
This has some great nominees such as Kunle Afolayan for Anikulapo and Ololade Tijani-Ebong for Ogeere.
Best Indigenous Language – Hausa (Movie/TV series):
This features four nominees including Ty Shaban for Lulu Da Andalu and Nancy Yiljep for Guzama.
Best Indigenous Language – Igbo (Movie/TV series)
This features five nominees such as Shileold A. Ibironke for Ijeoma and Victor Iyke for Uhuruchi.
Best Overall Movie – Africa
This category with six nominees including Femi Adebayo for King of Thieves (Agesinkole) and Funke Akindele for Battle on Buka Street.
Other categories include; Best Actress in a Drama (Movie/TV Series), Best Supporting Actor (Movie/TV Series), and Best Supporting Actress (Movie/TV Series) categories, which have some of the best actors and actresses in the industry.
