Qatar has been announced by the International games Federation as the host of the 2027 Basketball World Cup after a meeting held today in Philipine capital, Manila
Qatar hosted the men’s football World Cup in November-December and will now host basketball’s World Cup for the first time.
The Central Council of the International Basketball Federation considered the exceptional facility and Qatar’s contribution to the development of sport in general and Basketball in particular.
All matches will be held at existing venues in the capital Doha.
“Today, we celebrate Qatari Basketball Federation and in the history of Qatari basketball, we have witnessed in the past decade a significant development of sport in Qatar and in the region and we assure the whole world that this edition of the world cup will inspire generations.”- Mohammed Saad Al-Maghisbi, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation Said.
The Philippine, Indonesia and Japan will host this year’s World Cup from 25th August to 10th September
