Lipsticks for the Fall & Harmattan Season

As the cold and dry Fall and the dry and dusty Harmattan creep up on us, our lipsticks for the fall and harmattan, change from bright and vibrant to dark, vampy colours, like the dark reds and purples. It’s the time of the year when we pay homage to the dark-lipped beauty icons of the 30’s (Check out our “Revolving Makeup Trends” article for more throwback makeup trends).

Our Top Five Lipsticks for the Fall and Harmattan

Stone by MAC

We love this colour – it’s one colour that really works on so many skin tones. I used the MAC “Stone” liner to line the outer corners of my lip. This is a nude lipstick that can work all year round, and yes, it’s perfect for those who do not want to go very dark on the lips. Stone by MAC
“Maison” by NYX is the closest dupe for the MAC “Stone”, but it’s still no match.

Sangria by Milani

This colour is a mixture of red and wine, and it’s an amazing dupe for the MAC “Rebel”. It goes on nicely and can even be worn without a liner. Sangria by MilaniIn this picture, I used the MAC “Beet” lip liner to line the corners of my lips.

Matte Confident by Milani

This lipstick is an amazing dupe for the MAC “Russian Red”. It was part of their Spring collection for 2015, but this is one red colour that we can all rock for the Fall season. Matte Confident by MilaniI used the brown, Mary Kay “Chocolate” lip liner to line my lips before applying the colour. Depending on personal preference, you can decide to use red, wine or brown lip liners on this lipstick.

Black Cherry by Revlon

This colour just screams Fall. This is an amazing dupe for YSL “205” and MAC “Hang-Up” and it’s a third of the price of these lipsticks. Black Cherry by RevlonThis colour has a brownish and berry-like theme going on. Once again, I used my MAC “Beet” lip liner to line the corners of my lips. Any dark brown or wine lip liner will work for this lip colour.

Va Va Violet by Revlon

This is another great MAC dupe, this time for the MAC “Cyber”. We love the dark purples during the Fall/Harmattan season as it replaces the summery pink and light purple colours. Va Va Violet by RevlonThis is one lipstick I didn’t line my lips for because I wanted to show how amazing it looks even without using a lip liner.

P.S: Some of these brands are drugstore brands and are very affordable. High-end brands also have similar colours, but we went for the lipsticks that make good dupes for those brands. collage lip

Let me know if there are other brands that have similar colors that we should also try.
